We performed a transcriptional fusion to GFP to determine if the promoter region of the antisense RNA (aMEF), complementary to mazEF, was active in E.coli. We also constructed transcriptional fusions to GFP with the same promoter region found in other diverse bacteria to check for activity.
Conclusion:
The aMEF promoter is active in E.coli and other bacteria.
