This dataset presents global climate simulations carried out with the ARPEGE-Climat global climate model (Roehrig et al. 2020), including the TACTIC aerosol scheme (Michou et al. 2020). These simulations aim at studying the 2019-2020 extreme biomass burning events over three specific regions (Australia, California, and Siberia), in terms of aerosol characteristics and direct radiative effect. They cover the 2019-2020 period, including a spectral nudging towards the ERA5 reanalysis. Four simulations are provided here: a first one called NOFIRE without biomass burning emissions in the three studied regions, and three other simulations including the biomass burning emissions with different vertical profiles of injection: FIRE (with emissions in the lower troposphere), PYROC (with emissions up to the lower stratosphere during a few days when pyro-convection has been identified) and PYROC_EXT (with emissions up to the lower stratosphere during a larger number of days). More details about the configuration of these simulations are available in an article submitted to JGR Atmospheres.
The present repository contains only the monthly output for the following variables for the four simulations:
