VPRS 11721 Mining Warden's Register of Agreements, Warragul

In their administrative role Mining Wardens were required to register agreements relating to mining leases. In the case of private property leases the person wishing to mine could enter into an agreement with the owner of the land as to the conditions for mining on their land. In other cases a tributer could make an agreement with a lessee to work a mine or a portion of it in return for a percentage of the revenue from the mine. The conditions of such an arrangement would be set out in a tribute agreement.A Register of Agreements usually includes: the date of the agreement; the parties to the agreement; the term of the agreement; the area and locality and the conditions of the agreement.
