Meetings of the Dandenong Valley Regional Library Service were held at the Council Chambers, Springvale.At meetings, matters discussed related to the adminstration of the library, the services available to the public and funding arrangements, amongst other things.The Library Council of Victoria proposed the formation of a regional library service to serve the residents of Berwick, Chelsea, Cranbourne, Dandenong and Springvale at a meeting with representatives of these councils held on 16 December 1970.It was resolved at that meeting that the proposed Regional Service be named the 'Dandenong Valley Regional Library Service'.In the long run the municipalities that participated were the cities of Dandenong and Springvale and the shires of Berwick and Cranbourne.P1 consignment: The units that comprise the P1 consignment were transferred to the Public Record Office Victoria as VPRS 14713/P1, Committee Minutes, units 6-14.
