The objective of the present study is to establish rodent and in vitro models that closely resemble the connections between hyperuricemia and periodontitis. Through this research, we aim to explore the impacts of hyperuricemia on periodontitis and relevant biological mechanisms. A hyperuricemia mouse model was established by potassium oxonate injection, with sodium carboxymethylcellulose treatment serving as controls. Both models were subjected to either periodontitis induction or sham-ligation (n=10/group) and allopurinol intervention was applied to animal models. Gingival tissues surrounding one side of the maxillary molars were removed under the stereomicroscope. Immune response and oxidative stress in the periodontium were assessed using mRNA sequencing.
