This dataset provides the qualitative coding on how first-year undergraduates experience and interpret their social media use during the first-year university transition period.
Data were generated from group nine focus group interviews, generating initial codes from transcripts that were then processed into axial codes and then into theme headers. Theory development was constructed alongside constant comparative analysis and memo-writing.
The connected data sheet in Microsoft Excel provides project data separated into three Excel tabs.
The tab from the left (‘Axial code (& initial codes)’) provides all axial codes with relevant initial codes listed beneath to justify their associated axial codes.
The next tab lists all axial codes from each focus group.
The final tab gathers all relevant axial codes under theme headers, which came to represent this paper’s grounded theory model. These are colour-coded for each school.
