The project aims to describe the transcriptome of assai palm fruits during maturation. Pulp of assai palm is highly rich in antioxidant compounds, as anthocyanins and vitamin E, with many benefices for human health. The genetic characterization of assai fruits should lead to understand the molecular mechanisms allowing this plant to have a the high concentration of antioxidants. The results have many application for plant breeding and biotechnological purposes.
