Longitudinal zonation of epithelial cells across the mammalian small intestine defines five domains of nutrient absorption. Sorted epithelial cells and intestinal progenitor cells (intestinal stem cells and transit amplifying cells) were collected from 30 equal segments across the full length of 2 murine small intestines, barcoded using MULTIseq technology, pooled, and sequenced.
