Castor is an important oilseed plant, considered as one of the major cash crops in India. Achaea janata, commonly known as castor semilooper primarily feeds on its leaves and causes poor yield. The amount of damage and defoliation by this larvae makes it a serious pest of the castor plant. Various chemical and biological measure have been used to control this pest. Use of Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) toxin and its formulation is widespread fo the same. The larval mid-gut get damaged during Cry intoxication. The goal of this study is to compare de-novo transcriptome data of toxin-exposed larval mid-gut with that of control larvae which were not exposed to the toxin.
