Soil solution chemistry associated with rainfall simulations investigating nocturnal CO2 uptake by soil in the Tabernas Desert

This dataset contains soil solution chemistry measurements collected during rainfall simulation and soil solution extraction campaigns conducted between 9 October 2020 and 21 March 2021 at 5 cm under mature cyanobacterial crusts in the experimental site of El Cautivo (Tabernas Desert, Almeria, Spain). The dataset was generated to investigate the geochemical processes associated with nocturnal CO₂ uptake by soils, with a particular focus on coupled gypsum dissolution–calcite precipitation processes. Measurements include pH, temperature, alkalinity, dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC), dissolved organic carbon (DOC), major cations (Ca, Mg, Na, K), major anions (SO₄²⁻, Cl⁻, NO₃⁻), and mineral saturation indices for calcite and gypsum.
