Neisseria meningitidis (Nm) is a gram-negative bacterium that can cause meningitis and other forms of meningococcal disease with a high mortality rate, especially in children. The genome reported in this study belongs to ciprofloxacin-resistant Neisseria meningitidis serogroup B, and was isolated from a carrier in an outbreak produced in a Peruvian military institution.
