We sequenced the 16S rRNA gene pool of attached (biofilm) and suspended (bulk water and loose deposits) prokaryote communities in three different drinking water distribution systems (DWDS) and associated treatment plants (DWTP) distributing non-chlorinated surface water from the same source. The overall goal was to find correlations in the microbiomes with the variable regrowth conditions of the three DWDS.
