Activation of smooth muscle RSAD2-YTHDF1 axis causes inflammatory bowel disease via intercellular mitochondrial transfer

Colonic muscular layers were isolated individually under an inverted microscope from 3-month-old male WT and smooth muscle (SM) 22a-deficient mice (n = 4 per group). Here, we report that SM22a-deficient mice develop spontaneous colitis and increased susceptibility to experimental colitis.
