Community Interest and Engagement with Science and Technology in Victoria Data

The Department of State Development, Business and Innovation has been tracking\r\ncommunity attitudes and engagement with science and technology since its\r\nbenchmarking survey in 2007, [Community Interest and Engagement with Science\r\nand Technology in Victoria Research\r\nReport](http://www.business.vic.gov.au/industries/science-technology-and-\r\ninnovation/overview/snapshot/science-and-community-research) (prepared by\r\nQuantum Market Research). Another survey,[ Community Interest and Engagement\r\nwith Science and Technology in Victoria\r\n](http://www.business.vic.gov.au/industries/science-technology-and-\r\ninnovation/overview/snapshot/science-and-community-research)was conducted in\r\n2011 (prepared by Sweeney Research).\r\n\r\nWhat do Victorians think about science? Do they seek out science information?\r\nDo they get enough science in the media? Do they think technology is advancing\r\ntoo quickly? Are they more likely to engage with sport a movie or read about\r\nscience?\r\n\r\nSPSS data sets are available for the 2007 and 2011 survey results can be\r\ndownloaded at the right hand box.\r\n\r\nEach data set is the result of 800 interviews with Victorians over the age of\r\n18, in inner and outer metropolitan Melbourne, and regional and rural\r\nVictoria.\r\n\r\nAn[ interactive data tool](http://www.data.vic.gov.au/data_tool/community-\r\ninterest-and-engagement-with-science-and-technology-in-victoria/195) is also\r\navailable and enables comparison of the 2007 and 2011 data and allows the data\r\nto be filtered for a variety of demographic characteristics. The results of\r\nsurvey questions can also be plotted against each other.\r\n\r\n
