Wetland bogs have a major influence on coastal ecosystems, generation of atmospheric gases, and many other processes, but not much is known about the microbes that inhabit them. Chromobacterium spp. has been found in a number of freshwater systems, but little is known of the extent of the genus. This project includes the identification and genome sequences of several new types of Chromobacterium, as well as an examination of some previously recognized species.
