DNA sequencing in the field for diet of large African mammals

We used MinION and Illumina derived amplicon sequence data for dietary reconstruction of large African mammals. The data includes COI and ITS2 amplicon data from the fecal DNA of various large-bodied felids and ungulates (both captive and wild). It also includes data from mock communities used to evaluate the quality of sequencing and taxonomic classification. This project aimed to investigate the feasibility of conducting real-time dietary surveys with MinION sequencing in remote field locations.
