Hothouse with Diurnal: The dataset "habib2025_hothouse_with_diurnal.tar.gz" contains the convection resolving model (SAM) data and python scripts that were used in Habib et al 2025: "Assessing the Influence of Diurnal Variability on the Transition from Steady State to Episodic Convection in Hothouse Climates"  This directory contains the SAM 2D NetCDF files  presented in Habib et al 2025. There are two sets of radiative convective equilibrium (RCE) simulations in this study. First, we conducted RCE simulations with an open ocean surface boundary condition, running 11 simulations with fixed SSTs ranging from 295–325 K. This simulation set uses netCDF file names with the format: "RCE_96x96x91_1km_K_diurnal" where is the SST of that respective simulation. The second set of RCE simulations in this work used a thin slab ocean surface boundary condition to mimic land-like conditions, allowing the surface temperature to vary diurnally. There are 5 slab ocean simulations, which are initialized at an SST of 300 K with ocean flux values of -100, 10, 50, 100, 150 W m^{-2}. The slab ocean simulations have netCDF file names with the format: "RCE_96x96x91_1km_300K_0p2MLD_SzMin_0N".  "hothouse_with_diurnal.ipynb" provides the Python code used to analyze and generate the plots presented in the paper.
