Multi-disciplinary project to assess methanotroph diversity and methanotroph-derived bacteriohopanepolyol (BHP) signatures as a function of temperature related growth, survival, cell death and preservation in the geological record. 16S rRNA (variable V4/V5 region) amplicon libraries were generated from DNA extracts of temperature controlled sediment slurry incubations as described by Sherry et al. 2016. The libraries represent bacterial/archaeal communities from methane-amended enrichments at 4, 21, 30, 40, 50 and 60°C, unamended sediment enrichments at 21, 30, 40, 50 and 60°C and initial sediments (Time 0).
