The Minutes were created to document the debates, decisions and correspondence of the Executive Committee of the Victorian Education Department Patriotic League, who met sixty times over its eight-year existence. The Minutes do not contain accounts, but records of various disbursements are contained within the Minutes.Inside the volume's front cover, a page headed 'Victorian Education Department War Relief Fund', states:'After the large representative meeting of Officers of the Department and Teachers at the Melbourne Town Hall on 15 Aug 1914, the Victorian Education Department Patriotic League was formed. A strong Executive Committee was chosen, including:Minister of EducationDirector of EducationChief InspectorAssistant Chief InspectorDistrict InspectorChief ClerkAccountant (who acts as General Treasurer)and representatives of the Victorian Teachers' Associations and Truant Officers.Miss May Cox was appointed Organising Secretary and the following Sub-Committees were formed.The Funds Sub-CommitteeThe Sewing Sub-CommitteeThe First Aid Sub-Committee ...'This series was transferred to PROV from the Education History Unit of the Department of Education and Training.
