Collocated Tropical Cyclone Inner-Core Wind Dataset and Analysis Scripts for "Structural Distortions in Reanalyzed Tropical Cyclone Inner-Core Wind Fields Revealed by 13-Year ASCAT Observations"

This repository contains the processed tropical cyclone (TC)-centered collocated wind datasets, derived statistical products, and the analysis/plotting code associated with the manuscript: "Structural Distortions in Reanalyzed Tropical Cyclone Inner-Core Wind Fields Revealed by 13-Year ASCAT Observations". The dataset comprises 631 TC satellite overpasses (2013-2025, global ocean basins) with ASCAT sea surface wind and ERA5 10-m neutral wind fields collocated within the radius of maximum wind (Rmax), totaling 11,529 wind-vector grid-point pairs, together with per-case structural parameters (Rmax, R0.5Vmax, Scale Index), storm-relative azimuths and error-statistics tables. The original third-party data are available from their official sources: ASCAT (EUMETSAT Data Store, product EO:EUM:DAT:METOP:OAS025, https://data.eumetsat.int/data/map/EO:EUM:DAT:METOP:OAS025), ERA5 (Copernicus Climate Data Store, https://doi.org/10.24381/cds.adbb2d47), and JTWC best-track (UCAR RAL Hurricane Data Repository, https://hurricanes.ral.ucar.edu/repository/data/bdecks_open/). The code reproduces all figures of the manuscript (Figures 1-5) from the included data. See README.md for the package structure and usage.
