AIS, reloaded: A Complete, Searchable Edition with a New Dialect Atlas of Southern Switzerland and Lombardy

AIS, reloaded is an open access web-database available at https://www.ais-reloaded.uzh.ch. It offers: 1) a searchable digital version of all the linguistic material from the Linguistic and Ethnographic Atlas of Italy and Southern Switzerland (Sprach- und Sachatlas Italiens und der Südschweiz, Atlante italo-svizzero, AIS, 1928-1940); maps 1-880, updated and revised in 2026, were contained in the first version of the web DB, released in 2019, while the rest of the maps (881-1705, and supplementary materials) was released in 2026 (version 2.0.0). 2) a parallel new atlas of the dialects of Southern Switzerland (released in 2019) and Lombardy (released in 2026), based on data collected at the original AIS datapoints in 2016-19 and 2021-25 within the framework of the research projects AIS, reloaded and AIS, the digital turn, both funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation and hosted at the Romanisches Seminar (RoSe) of the University of Zurich.
