ILLITERACY AND PRIMARY INSTRUCTION IN THE PROVINCE OF BADAJOZ DURING THE FIRST THIRD OF THE TWENTIETH CENTURY

Abstract This article analyzes the evolution of primary education in the province of Badajoz in the first third of the 20th century. In this work we have resorted to both quantitative and qualitative analysis, since our interest has focused on finding the causes that influenced the high illiteracy rate of the Badajoz population and their lack of schooling. From this work the conclusion is drawn that there is a close relationship between the socioeconomic structure of a place and the degree of primary education.
