Number of university students in Iceland 2023, by subject and gender

In Iceland, social sciences, business, and law was the most popular field of study among university students in 2023. Over 6,000 people studied this subject, of which 3,900 were women. Health and welfare, and education were the second and third most popular subjects, respectively. Both of them were dominated by women. Sciences, mathematics and computers, and engineering, manufacturing and construction, on the other hand, had a high share of male students.
