资源简介:
Section 110 Survey of 1524 Acres at the John H. Kerr Reservoir. Halifax and Mecklenburg Counties, Virginia, and Vance County, North Carolina. Between February 17 and May 20, 2010, Brockington and Associates, Inc., conducted an intensive cultural resources survey at a total of 1,524 acres within seven tracts at the John H. Kerr Reservoir in Halifax and Mecklenburg counties, Virginia, and Vance County, North Carolina. This project was conducted under Contract No. W912P9-09-D-0537 with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St Louis District (Corps) as part of an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) program enacted by Congress in 2009. The survey resulted in the identification of 75 previously unrecorded archaeological sites and three previously unrecorded architectural resources, in addition to eight of the 12 previously recorded archaeological sites (the remaining four previously recorded sites were not located). No other architectural resources, including standing historic structures, were defined within any of the survey tracts. Of the 86 archaeological sites and architectural resources identified during this survey, 19 are recommended potentially eligible for inclusion on the NRHP. The remaining 67 sites/resources are recommended NRHP-ineligible. This ARRA-funded task order employed 47 specialists for a period of 15 months.
