The authors take China's agricultural production system as the research object. Based on data from the Fixed Observation Rural Survey (FORS) and the China Rural Development Survey (CRDS), a total factor productivity accounting framework incorporating the Cobb-Douglas production function and a greenhouse gas emission intensity measurement model based on the life cycle assessment method were constructed. These were used to calculate agricultural total factor productivity and greenhouse gas emission intensity of crop cultivation at the farm household level, respectively. The results were integrated to form a long-term panel dataset spanning 1993–2020 (excluding 1994 due to a lack of survey data from the Fixed Observation Points that year). The dataset includes: (1) annual data on agricultural total factor productivity and crop cultivation greenhouse gas emission intensity from 1993 to 2020; (2) data analyzing the distribution of agricultural total factor productivity across nine agricultural regions and the turning points in its relationship with crop cultivation greenhouse gas emission intensity. The dataset is stored in one .xlsx format file, with a size of 12.0 KB. Research findings based on this dataset are intended for publication in Acta Geographica Sinica, Vol. 81, 2026.
