PIC data & scripts for "The Proton-Alpha Instability as a Source of Ion Heating at Earth's Bow Shock"

This dataset contains the output of the particle-in-cell simulations for the proton alpha instability (see corresponding paper). In particular, it contains the simulations used to verify convergence of the simulations and those where the flow velocity of the alpha particles was varied. The data format is the output format of the EPOCH PIC simulation (called SDL). In the processing scripts for the paper you can also find all relevant conversion operations to HDF5. Additionally, "input_decks.tar" contains all configuration files used to start the corresponding EPOCH simulations.
