Shewanella oneidensis MR-1 is facultative dissimilatory metal-reducing bacteria renowned for its respiratory versatility, a feature attributable to a large repertoire of iron-containing proteins. Because of this, S. oneidensis, have relatively high iron contents compared to E. coli. The iron acquisition has always been a challenge. S. oneidensis uptake iron mainly through the Feo pathway and siderophore-media pathway. Previous studies have shown that SO2426 is an orphan DNA-binding response regulator involved in siderophore production. To characterize the cellular function of SO2426 and its contribution to iron homeostasis, we combined genetic and physiological approaches with a genome-wide screen for potential SO2426 target genes. The transcriptome data of the WT and so2426 deletion mutant(delta-so2426) were analyzed comparatively.
