Tree inventory data of Pinus nigra J.F. Arnold subsp. Calabrica (Poir.) plantation in the Sila plateau (Calabria – Italy)

This article provides a dataset containing the historical series of dendrometric data of a Pinus nigra J.F.Arnold subsp. calabrica (Poir.) Maire (Calabrian black pine) plantation located in the Sila plateau and characterized by trees with a relevant role for forest community biodiversity. The experimental area is a test witness parcel that has been left to natural evolution. 

Nine inventories have been made in 35 years. 176 pine trees have been measured. The data collected constitute a fundamental contribution to assess the health and stability of the Sila’s Calabrian black pine plantation during several steps of their natural evolutionary path. Furthermore, the data may effectively contribute to understand the dynamics of Calabrian black pine plantations in the Sila plateau.
