Landscape Fire and Resource Management Planning Tools (LANDFIRE)

The Landscape Fire and Resource Management Planning Tools (LANDFIRE) program is a federally sponsored, collaborative initiative that includes a number of supporting partners, e.g., The Nature Conservancy and the U.S. Geological Survey. LANDFIRE is designed to provide comprehensive, up-to-date, consistent geospatial data and tools for use in land management and planning. It integrates data to create detailed maps and datasets that cover various aspects of the landscape, including vegetation, wildland fuel, fire behavior, and ecological conditions throughout the U.S. It is intended for use at a landscape-scale to support strategic vegetation, fire, and fuels management planning for evaluating management alternatives across boundaries. LANDFIRE is used by fire and natural resource managers, planners, policymakers, and researchers to support informed decision-making but is also available to the public.
