16S rRNA gene amplicons from nasal bovine swabs collected from healthy and dairy calves diagnosed with BRD in Indiana.

The objective of the study focuses on the characterization of the nasal microbiome of apparently healthy (n=47) and BRD-affected (n=49) pen-mates dairy calves as a potential additional diagnostic tool to identify an animal with BRD. Nasal swabs were collected from a dairy farm in Indiana. For the nasal microbiome analysis, the region V4 of the 16S rRNA gene was amplified and sequenced using Illumina MiSeq Sequencer.
