Dopamine deficient recombinant Drosophila genomes

Dopamine deficient flies exhibit reduced locomotor activity; however, we discovered a complete rescue of locomotor activity after backcrossing to a lab stock. For 15 generations, the Dopamine Deficient High activity flies and the Dopamine Deficient Low activity flies were allowed to freely intermate. The recombinant flies were monitored for activity levels. The 42 highest activity dopamine deficient male flies and 42 lowest activity males were sequenced (WGS) to perform a GWAS and look for SNPs relating to the high locomotor activity rescue seen in the absence of dopamine.
