资源简介:
Role-playing games were used as a participatory method employed to understand how other stakeholders (household, business, and NGO) affect the community's relocation decision-making process under uncertainty in Comerío & Loíza, Puerto Rico. We co-designed the role-playing games, a hands-on tabletop simulation activity (disaster scenarios including hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis, and coastal erosion), in collaboration with the community stakeholders. The sessions, lasting 3 hours in total, were held in Spanish and consisted of activities such as assigning of participants to small group discussions (up to 4 people), a consent process and pre-activity survey, a role-playing activity focusing on different disaster scenarios, a large group-based role-playing activity focusing on community priorities, and a post-activity survey. During these activities, researchers collected textual, visual, and quantitative data. We deployed two in-person role-playing activity sessions with 49 residents (total) of Comerío, PR & Loíza, PR. With the help of local groups like Casa Juana Colón in Comerío and students from the University of Puerto Rico, the project included 25 participants in Loíza and 24 in Comerío. Each simulation activity was moderated by a project team member that led small groups through a discussion of their priorities in different phases of a disaster (pre, during, and post) across multiple disaster scenarios. Pre- and post-activity survey data were collected after each session.
