Supplementary Materials of The Influences of Retrospective Meeting in the Community Smells Refactoring

Retrospective meetings are an important practice for the continuous improvement of software teams. Different aspects can be highlighted during these meetings, including socio-technical aspects such as community smells. However, it is considered that the retrospective meeting quality can be influenced by psychological safety and team reflexivity, impacting the continuous improvement process, especially in the community smells refactoring. In this sense, we verified the relations between Psychological Safety, Team Reflexivity, Retrospective Meeting Quality, and the Community Smells Refactoring. For this purpose, an online survey was carried out with 148 practitioners from software development teams and the Structural Equation Model was adopted for data analysis and hypothesis verification. The results show the relationship between Psychological Safety and Team Reflexivity, as well as the effect of reflexivity in community smells refactoring, having the retrospective meeting and its quality as mediator and moderator of relations. Reinforces the need for psychological safety and reflexivity in software teams, factors with a positive effect on the Community Smells Refactoring, being the Retrospective Meeting a potential moment to promote psychological safety and exercise team reflexivity, with impact, not only in the socio-technical aspects.
