The project goal is sequencing the whole genome of a Fusobacterium necrophorum subsp. funduliforme strain isolated from the blood of a patient with septic portal vein thrombosis. The likely route of entry to the blood was a rare gastrointestinal tumor, plexiform fibromyxoma. This strain was sequenced to provide further data for a case study on this highly unusual infection.
