Size 101/2 in. by 7 in.; foll. 140. Twenty-five lines in a page. A fragment of a large Collection of Traditions. The name of the author is not to be found, the first leaf being wanting. It appears, however, from the detailed index to the whole book which fills up the first eleven leaves, and from recent inscriptions, running الاکمال لمنهج العمال and اجزا منهاج اعمال, that this is the work of ‘ALÎ B. ḤUSÂM AL-DÎN MUTTAḲI (d. A. H. 975), described in Ḥ. Kh. iii. 553 and 616, as a combined and newly arranged edition of Suyûṭî’s الجامع الصغیر and the supplement to it (الزیادة). It is entitled منهاج العُمّال فی سنن الاقوال. The single books (کتاب) are arranged alphabetically, and subdivided into chapters (باب) and sections (فصل). Each of the latter has a double appendix, inscribed الاکمال and الافعال. The books from which the traditions are taken are always marked, the same abbreviations being used as in Suyûṭî’s work. 1 The present fragment comprises only two books, viz., I. کتاب الایمان و الاسلام, in three chapters: 1. فی تعریفهما; 2. فی الاعتصام بالکتاب و السنة;3. فی لواحق کتاب الایمان; and II. (fol. 54) فی الاخلاق, in two chapters: 1. فی الاخلاق و الافعال المحمودة; 2. فی الاخلاق و الافعال المذمومة. The details of both these chapters are also arranged alphabetically.
