The dataset includes CTD，chlorophyll-a, DOC, bacterial abundance, bacterial production, and the calculation process of bacterial oxygen demand and diapycnal oxygen loss, etc at the southern Bay of Bengal. The data of CTD were obtained from an international corporation cruise, named as JAMES in the eastern equatorial Indian Ocean during December 2019‒February 2020. The data of chlorophyll-a, DOC, bacterial abundance, bacterial production were obtained by the measurements. The data of bacterial oxygen demand and diapycnal oxygen loss were calculated from bacterial production and diapycnal diffusivities. The dataset could be used to analyze the bacterial production distribution and bacterial contribution to the OMZ maintaining.
