Agroforestry practice adoption and farm revenue among smallholder households in central Malawi, 2024

This dataset contains de-identified household-level analytical data supporting the article “More is not always better: farm revenue is linked to the number and mix of agroforestry practices adopted in Malawi.” Data were collected between April and August 2024 from 411 smallholder farming households in Chiwosya Extension Planning Area, Mchinji District, and Santhe Extension Planning Area, Kasungu District, Malawi. The dataset contains fourteen agroforestry practice indicators, verified adoption status, practice count and practice-count categories, economic outcomes including farm revenue and annual household income, and the covariates required to reproduce the principal analyses. Farm revenue is reconstructed as crop sales plus tree-product sales plus livestock sales. The repository also contains a data dictionary and Stata validation code. Direct personal identifiers have been removed from the analytical release.
