HÜK200 – Protection of groundwater cover of HÜK 200 – OGC API Features

As part of the implementation of the EU Water Framework Directive, the first and more detailed description of the groundwater bodies of Rhineland-Palatinate is an inventory of the subsurface of the river basins in Rhineland-Palatinate with the aim of recording those groundwater bodies for which there is a risk of not achieving the environmental objectives set out in Article 4 of the EU WFD. The basis of the description is the hydrogeological overview map of Germany (HÜK 200). It was established in 2001 by the German Federal Geological Services (SGD) and the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Raw Materials (BGR) on a scale of 1: 200000 worked out in the leaf cuts of the TK 200. The basis of the evaluation was the HÜK 200. The classification of the protective effect was carried out according to the LAWA working aid in the classes favourable – medium – unfavourable. Initially, the cover layers covered in the HÜK 200 were evaluated depending on their training (bindingness) and thickness, including drilling profiles. For the classification of the deeper proportion of groundwater cover, the mountain permeability specified in HÜK 200 for the Upper aquifer was used. The overall assessment was based on the combination of the two shares. Layers of boreholes and detailed mapping were used for plausibility control. The contents correspond to the HÜK 200 of the BGR.
