The aims are to gather information about radio listeners and potential listeners in the critical 0900-1300 (Monday-Friday) timeslot, with specific reference to potential listeners to 4QR (Brisbane, ABC Network 1) Topics covered include: radio and television ownership; type of FM radio receiver(s) owned and whether the respondent plans to purchase one if none owned; frequency of radio listening; the times and stations of average weekday radio listening; times of day yesterday when the respondent could have listened but didn't; what the respondent normally does between 0900 and 1200 on weekdays, whether this activity would allow one to pay attention to the radio, and whether the respondent is usually alone or with someone during this time; on the average, the length of time that the respondent can concentrate on talk that interests him during the 0900-1200 time slot and the reason for that; the preferred music to spoken-word ratio for the 0900-1200 time slot and preferred number of minutes of music per half hour; reasons for not listening during this time period; whether the spoken-word or the music segment is most important to the respondent; attitude to various program formats; the times, stations and programmes for Saturday and Sunday radio listening; the time when the TV is turned on in the middle of the day; and, opinions of four television programmes (commercial channel news, Channel 2 News, Holiday and To-day Tonight).
