Woody plant encroachment and common southern African birds

This repository includes the cleaned data and models used to produce the major results for the paper titled: "Woody plant encroachment drives population declines in 20% of common open ecosystem bird species" (https://doi.org/10.1111/gcb.17340).The code to replicate the models and produce the primary figure of the paper (Figure 2) is available at github.com/jdmwhite/encroachment_birds (https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.11220477)To run the code, download the zipped folder, unzip it and then move the wpe_birds_data into the respective folders within the R project. The occupancy models were produced using version 1.3.2 of unmarked.
