PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide promoters that are useful for expressing a gene of interest in a host being a Taxus plant or cultured cells thereof， expression vectors and DNA fragments comprising the promoter， and transformants comprising any of them. SOLUTION: According to the invention， a promoter derived from a promoter region present upstream of an EG1α gene for constant expression of the EF1α gene of Taxus x media which is a hybrid between Taxus cuspidata and Taxus baccata is used for expressing a gene encoding a product of interest in a host cell.
