A household is defined as a group of people living together where at least one individual has a familial relationship with the rest of the household via birth, marriage, or adoption. This dataset uses household weights to characterize the individuals residing in the household. As a result, the household count estimates from this dataset do not match those derived from the Housing Vacancy Survey (HVS). The HVS weights housing units rather than population to more accurately estimate the number of occupied and vacant housing units. This is a dataset from the U.S. Census Bureau hosted by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation Economic Database (FRED).
