Variable supersoft sources in the LMC

We propose to observe three supersoft Xray sources in the LMC. All of them are Xray variable: one is a classicalnova, while the other two have been observed to move in and out theROSATEinstein windows, varying energy peak and/or flux. The low interstellar absorption to the LMC allows optimal conditionsfor observations in the supersoft energy range. The exceptional sensibility of the EPIC camera at low energy will allow us to nail down forthe first time i the L(x) vs. T(eff) plane the physicalbehaviour of these intriguing systems containing an exceptionallyhot, shellhydrogen burning white dwarf. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
