Description of Chrysoviridae adapted from ICTVdb Virion Properties Morphology Virions are not enveloped. Physicochemical and Physical Properties Virions have a buoyant density in CsCl of 1.35 g cm-3. Nucleic Acid The genome is segmented and consists of three segments of linear double-stranded RNA. Minor species of non-genomic nucleic acid are also found in virions. The encapsidated nucleic acid is mainly of genomic origin, but virions may also contain subgenomic RNA, or defective RNA. The complete genome is 2900-3500 nucleotides long. The genome has a guanine + cytosine content of 54 %.
