Estimation the Impact of Sea State Condition on the Accuracy of Determining the Ship Velocity Based on the SAR Image

This article presents the results of an assessment of the impact of sea state on the accuracy of determining the speed of a surface vessel using the spectrum of a radar wake image. Using synthetic radar images, the dependences of the standard deviation of the unbiased error in measuring the speed of a surface vessel as a function of sea state and as a function of the vessel\u2019s speed at a fixed sea state are obtained. Approximation expressions are derived to describe the dependences obtained through mathematical modeling.
