Pre-invasive versus microinvasive carcinoma of the cervix

Comparative analysis of gene expression prodfiles of cervical biopsy from two (2) patients with pre-invasive neoplastic lesions (carcinonma in citu, or high-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasia) and 2 patients with earliest stage of invasive cancer By comparing two earliest stages that are adjacent in the course of cervical cancer development but have completely different growth strategies, we aimed to identify genes and molecular pathways that may underlie acquisition of invasive phenotype and metastatic properties (including lymphangiogenesis and epithelial-to mesenchymal transition) by cervical cancer cells.
