Comparison of vital parameters measured by a Ballistocardiography device Dozee and a Philips Bedside Monitor

This study looked into the reliability of BCG devices by comparing basic vital parameters such as heart rate, respiratory rate, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, mean arterial pressure and temperature as measured by a ballistocardiography device, with the same parameters simultaneously measured by standard bedside monitors.This was a two-month prospective observational study involving adult ICU patients. Patients’ vital parameters were recorded simultaneously at four-hourly intervals using the Dozee BCG and Philips IntelliVue MP20 monitors. Readings from the BCG were analysed to assess deviation from the benchmark bedside monitor readings. A total of 121 patients were included and about 900 - 1000 readings of each parameter were obtained.<br>
