Improving phosphorus use efficiency of potatoes

Information on morphophysiological and metabolic responses to phosphorus- deficient and toxic conditions is important to understand how potato plants use P when it is either deficit or highly available. Furthermore, there has been growing interest to explore the potential of plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) to contribute to plant growth under P deficiency. The present study aims (I) to assess the dynamic in growth, mineral allocation, and plant metabolite compounds of potato in response to P deficiency and toxicity, and (II) to evaluate how PGPR interfere in these responses at low P levels.
