Colorless but never dull: untangling population genomics and color evolution of "white" darkling beetles (Onymacris)

Population genomic data (3RAD) were generated for all white species of Onymacris to create a phylogenetic hypothesis and investigate population structure, migration, and color evolution in this unique tenebrionid genus. With rare coloration and complex population dynamics, Onymacris presents a fascinating group for exploring the relationship between environmental pressures and evolutionary mechanisms across desert landscapes.
