The main alternative for the treatment of gastric cancer is partial gastrectomy. As a consequence of surgery, mineral absorption could be decreased, especially iron. Otherwise, based on studies with polydextrose, we hypothesized that supplementation with this prebiotic is capable of modulate the gut microbiota and explain the iron absorption process after gastrectomy. This study aims to describe and compare the variability of the bacterial community in relation to polydextrose supplementation during 21 days on gut microbiota after partial gastrectomy in rats
